Fourth Unit Assignment
As you know, we are working together to explore a central generative question in each unit during the semester.
For your fourth unit essay assignment, I want you to pull all of the work you have done this semester together; we
have considered our responsibilities, duties, or obligations (if any) toward those who preceded us, toward those
with whom we share the world now, and toward those who will follow us in the future. Now I want you to (finally)
tackle the larger question of what it means to be a so-called good person. What are the qualities and characteristics
of someone who meets all of the responsibilities, obligations, or duties that we have considered? Which of these
responsibilities are important in being a good person? What should we do, not do, think, and not think? How does
a good person act? How does a good person view the world? I am asking you to make a claim that defines what it
means to be good, moral, ethical, just, responsible, and decent. In short, define what it means to be a good person.
Clearly state your own position, make sure that it has a firm foundation, offer support for it, and somehow defend
it against potential opposing positions.
This fourth essay should be two-and-a-half to five word-processed, double-spaced pages long in 12-point font with
one-inch margins, plus a “Works Cited” page. It should include appropriate citations for at least four sources.
Please note that the essay must incorporate four clearly cited sources to meet the minimum passing requirements

of the assignment. This is important for you to remember because there will not be any opportunity to revise and
resubmit this final essay for regrading.
Once again, I want you to use your writing to think through some part of this seemingly simple exploratory
question in more depth than you would have imagined possible before we began working on it in class. Use your
writing to look critically at the issue (and consequently at our world), to push your thinking beyond what you
might have already worked out. In short, again work on writing an argument that is worth writing as well as worth make sure u have 4 citation and cit 4 different people do leave one out
the second paper need to be about
As you know, we are working together to explore a central generative question in each unit during the semester. For your third unit essay assignment, please begin with our class work on the general exploratory question of what our responsibilities are toward those to come, what we owe present generations, what we should do (or should not do) or should think (or should not think) with respect to our descendants and successors. As we consider this broad question, we again will be exploring issues that promise a way to make a reasoned claim, to take a stand and offer support for it. As you have been doing this semester, choose one of these narrower, more focused issues and build an argument around it. Clearly state your own position, make sure that it has a firm foundation, offer support for it, and defend it against potential opposing positions. Narrow your focus; do not try to answer the broader exploratory question we are using to spur class discussion. Again, it’s simply too much to handle in this situation. This third essay, like the first two, should be two-and-a-half to five word-processed, double-spaced pages long in 12-point font with one-inch margins, plus a properly formatted “Works Cited” page. It should include appropriate citations for at least three sources. Please note that the essay must incorporate three sources and be two-and-a-half pages long to meet the minimum passing requirements of the assignment. As we work, I will show you articles and videos in class. You may use these as sources, but you do not have to use them. Once again, I want you to use your writing to think through some part of this seemingly simple exploratory question in more depth than you would have imagined possible before we began working on it in class. Use your writing to look critically at the issue (and consequently at our world), to push your thinking beyond what you might have already worked out. In short, again work on writing an argument that is worth writing as well as worth reading. i need 3 citation at the end of the eassay
