Things to for remember for the Essay • Introduction and concluding paragraphs should be approximately 5 sentences. • The last sentence of your first paragraph needs to be your thesis statement (who, what, 3 whys) • Body paragraphs need to begin with a topic sentence and end with a concluding sentence. Both of these should mention the category of the body paragraph and connect back to the essay topic • Use transits • You will need to use 2 readings throughout your essay and at least 2 quotes from each reading. • After a quote, place the author’s last name in brackets or include the author’s last name as you introduce the quote. • Make sure to provide information that connects the quote to your essay • If you still have time….The page after your essay title it Works Cited….then add your two readings in alphabetical order Author’s last name, First name. “Title of Reading.”
