Assignment Instructions
We have been focusing upon how those in terrorist leaders act and communicate. Focusing upon Osama bin Laden, write a research paper to analyze either:
1) bin Laden’s leadership approach of al Qaeda
or
2) how bin Laden communicated and exerted influence upon various audiences (before and then after 9/11)
If you choose you can address both how he led and how he communicated, but do not exceed 5 pages of content). Make sure to use only scholarly sources and not the course lessons or other websites. Assignment Specifics:
The body of your report is to be at least three FULL pages in length (not counting title page and references) and is to contain the following:
A brief introduction, with the topic and your thesis
A main body, containing the “meat” of the paper, where you provide the requested information supported by class readings and with your analysis
A conclusion, summarizing your information clearly and concisely
Save your work as a Microsoft Word document and titled in the following manner, “LastnameHLSS154Progress.doc” and attach as your assignment. All papers are automatically submitted to turnitin and you (and the professor) will receive an originality report within about fifteen minutes after submission.————————-Requirements:
Three to five (3 -5) pages of text, not including the Title or Reference pages;
Written according to the APA style and format;
Use Times New Roman 12 point all black font;
1 inch margins on all sides
Double space all text (no extra lines or spaces after a paragraph or section heading)
A respectable number of credible resources used, cited in the paper as in-text citations, and included on the reference page at the end. The expectation is at least 2 scholarly sources per page of content (at least 6 scholarly references for this 3 page paper). Use those sources provided to you throughout the course (listed in the announcements), as well as other material obtained from conducting your own research. However, such outside information is to supplement your work, not as a substitute for the primary references provided to you. Freely utilize appropriate and reputable academic sources, summarize in your own words and cite accordingly, but be mindful of excessive direct quotes, as they should not make up more than 10% of your paper. In other words, the paper should not contain just a string of various quotations — paraphrase where you can and provide your own analysis and synthesis of your research.
