After having read “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” in 2 ½ – 4 pages, you are to create a discussion of the text in which you argue to whom the title of Misfit in the story best fits. Given the state of the behaviors of many of the characters, primarily those of the Character of the Misfit and the Grandmother, though, who do you think most earned the title Misfit? Define your use of the term. Who best fits into the world around him/her? Who least fits? Look at the details of the story closely, and look at how the characters are developed. To whom does the title of Misfit belong? Be succinct and concrete in your language and make sure you have a fully developed essay structure that is logical and coherent. You need to use textual support from the story in your discussion. The essay is an argument in which you create your position on the issue and use concrete language in order to defend your position; use text support from the story as needed. You need to have an introduction, a strong and controlling thesis, at least 3 body paragraphs, in text citations that support your assertions, and a carefully drawn conclusion. Make sure you create your Works Cited page to allow for the intext citations to have come from a credible source.
